1. ONTARIO RAT II
The Rat II is 7″ long, has a 3″ blade, and weighs 2.75 ounces. It is a great size for urban EDC. It comes with clipper so you can carry it with you for any kind of work.
Blade: The RAT 2 features a classic gentle drop point style blade; the blade is satin. The unidentified black coating on the blade looks great and quite durable. The blade is super sharp, and evenly ground/sharpened. Machined finish is very uniform and high-end looking.
It comes with Aus-8 Steel, which can take a razor edge with minimum effort, and hold it reasonably well.
Handle: The handle of Rat II knife features the same sturdy design. The Ontario Knife Company uses a very pleasing micro-checkered model that almost feels like a denim micarta in the hand and does a fair job to make the handle grippy. But, still it’s not that much grippy as compared to other models.
2. SPRING ASSISTED
Spring assisted knife is a kind of interesting knife actually. Because it comes with bottle opener feature which makes it pretty exciting. The knife is by Alpha Tek company. It has to be pickup truck tough without being monster truck heavy, open fast and easily, and sit comfortably in your hand.
General Dimension & Balde: It comes with 3.38-inch Spring Assisted blade. And, the blade is constructed with 440C HIGH-CARBON steel from 400 stainless steel series- Balance hardness and corrosion resistance.
Of course, what attracted us, was the unique blade, with the bottle opener cut into the spine, very unique. Additionally, it is an assisted open to boot. The blade is tough, and the knife feels sturdy. Though the brand is not popular enough but this knife definitely have some perk to make it to the best assisted opening knives.
Handle & Ergonomics: The handle is constructed of G-10 material. So, without any doubt, the handle is grippy, stronger & lighter. The handle’s knife is completely black & the Handle with G-10 material is considered as the toughest of all the resin laminates.
If you look at the handle, you’ll find it pretty simple, but yet it works like a charm and satisfy the holder because it makes good grip and its lighter handle make it more comfortable for the user to use it. The clip is a little long, and you can carry the knife deeper in the pocket.
3. Spyderco Tenacious
Spyderco is one of the best brands out there in knives’ industry. They have been making extremely useful knives fo their customers since the beginning.
Spyderco Tenacious is a good automatic opening knife in the range of 40$. It has a good length that makes it best cheap EDC knife. Spyderco Tenacious is definitely a good folding knife model.
Blade: Spyderco Tenacious plan edge is made in the USA. The length of knife is 197 mm (7.8 inches) when completely open and 113 mm (4.5 inches) when closed. The blade is constructed with 8CR13MOV steel which is stainless steel.
Though this steel is not excellent but still it is a medium range steel and holds the edge very strongly. It’s sufficient blade thickness along the flat grind and wide chord design give this blade added durability. The jimping on this blade is best, and thumb sits perfectly on the ramp, and it holds your finger in place.
Handle & Ergonomics: The handle is constructed of top quality material G-10 that makes it best ever handle to grab in the palm. Since the handle is constructed of the G-10 material, you can’t complain about the grip at all.
It sticks to the hand that helps you to complete your tasks without any trouble. The knife has a smooth, rough texture that won’t dig up your skin or chew up your pants when you put it in your pocket, and honestly, it feels very “amazing.”
4. CRKT Ken Onion Ripple
The Ripple is remarkable for its exceptional manufacturing quality, additionally an almost unbelievable silky smooth and fast opening action.

The fast system opens the blade kinda fastening. It will be a little gritty in the beginning times, but it will smooth up well with the time. The binary beveled stainless steel blade is absolutely designed for piercing and stabbing and is also partially serrated for increasing the utility.
Handle & Ergonomics: The handle is made of G10 handle. The glass filled nylon handle is flawlessly balanced with the blade for excellent handling and feature stainless steel liners for continued strength.
The handle is rough & stick to the hand flawlessly. Even with the wet hands, we were able to make a good grip. The light weight and g-10 properties make it a stunning & “black beauty” knife.
6. SOG SpecialtyCP Aegis

General Dimension & Blade: The Aegis has 3.5-inch stainless steel blade with a black TiNi finish, a well-balanced body, and SOG’s trademarked DigiGrip handle. It weighs 3.1-ounces which is extremely lighter.
The blade is constructed with AUS Steel That makes it a super blade. The blade is leaf-shaped; is looks beautiful. It is not the strongest alloy yet it holds the edge pretty well. The assisted opening mechanism is just enough to be comfortable and controlled without being unnecessarily aggressive or being hard to close.
The AUS8 Steel is treated with the cryogenically heat that enhances the toughness of blade & better edge retention.
Handle & Ergonomics: Aegis has a glass reinforced nylon (GRN) handle. The GRN on the Aegis is of high-quality and feels good in the hand. The handle also includes checkered Digi-Grip for extra anti-slip security.
